Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. It is decoded, reframed and re-encoded by your own browser, and the result is built in memory on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
What does smart crop actually do?
Before rendering, the clip is scanned at a low frame rate for movement and detail, with extra weight where the picture looks like skin. That gives a position for the crop window over time, which is then smoothed so the result pans slowly rather than jumping about.
Is the audio kept?
Yes. The audio track is carried through to the output untouched.
Will it lose quality?
The video is re-encoded, so there is some generational loss, as with any resize. Output is capped at the source resolution because enlarging a small clip only makes a bigger, softer file.
Why is my browser not supported?
Encoding needs the WebCodecs API. It is in current Chrome and Edge, Safari 16.4 and later, and Firefox 130 and later.
How long can the video be?
There is no fixed limit, but everything runs on your own machine, so long or 4K clips take longer and use more memory. Short ad creatives finish quickly.
